Howdy, all! I thought some of you guys might come out here and check this fine festival day!
Does anyone remember what was on our minds on this day (on God’s calendar, at least) seven years ago? Seems to me this year has brought another wake-up call. I have written just a bit about it on my blog and thought I would direct you to it.
Because we are doing a St. Louis / Columbia circuit today and then seeing Rolla this coming Sabbath, we should have one more opportunity to see everyone before the Feast of Tabernacles. I hope you all have a wonderful Trumpets, and that all of us will use these Fall Holy Days as an opportunity to grow even more empassioned about our work now and our destiny to come!
Howdy, all! Sorry for the late post tonight — and without an uploading YouTube video to use as my excuse, too! This time, my family and I are in Springfield, gearing up to attend services here tomorrow and give the sermon. The lights are already off in the hotel room, the kids are asleeppretending to be asleep giggling in their beds, my wife is typing away on her Mac as I type here on my PC, and we’re both about to hit the pillows ourselves.
I hope all of you are well this Sabbath evening. In the case of Mr. and Mrs. Meredith, I have had the chance this week to speak to some at headquarters who had spoken with them, and both are doing well. Mr. Meredith is looking forward to his rehabilitation work. More is mentioned in this week’s update, I believe. Please keep them both in your prayers, as well as Mr. Ames, who is acting in Mr. Meredith’s stead handling the day-to-day decisions while our presiding evangelist takes some needed (and well earned) time off. Pray, too, for those among us and in our congregations who continue to need your prayers in their trials.
To say that the recent financial turmoil is disturbing would be an understatement. Yet regardless of how such things remind us of the gravity of the times in which we live, we are reminded as well of Christ’s encouraging words in Luke 21:28 — “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” There is still much to do in this work, and I pray both that our leaders are able to make wise choices (and exhort you to do the same: 1 Timothy 2:1-2) and also that God will continue to give us the resources we need — even more resources, actually, both in manpower and in financing, as the “open doors” seem as plentiful and as wide open as ever.
May God grant you a beautiful and peaceful Sabbath, and may God continue to bless our efforts to press forward with His work.
Howdy!  The Friday Night Greetings video is below in my crowded office — the only place I could find refuge from my many fans. Fans drying our carpets, that is…  Our downstairs living room carpet is almost dry after the remnant of Ike visited recently, and this weekend should do the trick. They should be coming by to check it Monday and to replace the padding that had to be tossed.
As mentioned in the video, prayers are requested for Festival preparations. Things are going very well! There are a few glitches here and there, but so far nothing seems insurmountable (of course, with God, nothing is!). Please pray as well for those in our congregations going through various trials, which I think most of us are aware of. Many of those trials continue, as should our prayers.
Take care, and have a wonderful Sabbath.
P.S. Now that the video has successfully uploaded, I notice that it, perhaps, could have been processed a lot faster if I had not wasted the first two minutes whining about the lighting! Feel free to skip to time marker 2:03, which is where the whining drops down a notch.
Howdy, one and all, and I hope you are all well! It looks as though tonight’s video will actually be up on Friday night! And not “super late” Friday night! Don’t worry — I won’t let it go to my head.
I will let most of what I was going to say wait for the video itself, but I will say here in print that I plan to officially “turn off” the www.wallacegsmith.com website for local church purposes and make the move to www.eastmissourilcg.org complete. So, if you have continued to go to the old wallacegsmith site for information or greetings videos, you may not see anything new there anymore. In fact, I will probably redirect that address to my wallacegsmith.wordpress.com blog, “Thoughts En Route”.
If you need to re-enter usernames or passwords for the private information portions of the site and can’t remember what they are, I will try to include them in announcements this week.
Well, it’s a late video, again! Sorry about that. It didn’t help that my camera kept powering off on me. (Contrary to popular belief, I am not quite a techno-wizard. Come to think of it, contrary to popular belief, that is NOT a popular belief…)
We have really enjoyed being home in our own area this past week after returning from the Bluegrass Weekend, which went wonderfully. We plan on expanding it next year, but I discuss that in the video, so I won’t here. Thanks to all who came and participated!
I will say, though, that you have my apologies for not telling all of you the booklet we are using for this month’s Bible studies; it’s “Your Ultimate Destiny” by Mr. Roderick C. Meredith. (Though, tomorrow in Rolla we will complete the August cycle by focusing on “God’s Church through the Ages,” which should be the book you have read.) For you folks in Columbia for whom the booklet choice may be news, I will be understanding if you have not been able to finish it by the time we meet. For you East St. Louis folks in Illinois, hopefully this will give you enough time. Also, for those of you who attend the West St. Louis Bible Study, let’s aim at meeting on September 24 since we have already passed the first Wednesday of the month.
That’s all for now — have a great night (or morning, if that applies), and we’ll see you all soon, God willing. The video for tonight is below…
