Hungry, yet?

March 27th, 2009

Howdy, everyone. I don’t know if you are reading this before sundown or after sundown, but regardless I hope that your fast this Sabbath gets off to a good start. Not only is this fast that Mr. Meredith has called a vital step to take in drawing close to God and seeking the fruit and gifts of His spirit, but it is also a fitting action to take here in the lead up to Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread. In the video below, I give some of my thoughts on this for our area, and I am looking forward to seeing the video from Mr. Meredith tomorrow in services.

Let me just add here a reference to the mid-week post I wrote before this one and point again to the “For 3/28 Fast” tab above. That new page contains the text of Chapter 22 from Mr. Armstrong’s autobiography, which I believe is a brief-but-excellent read for this period of fasting, with a needed reminder of many basic ideas. Also, let me highlight the new calendar available both at the top right of this home page as well as at the new tab above, which takes you to a larger calendar. We plan to keep this up-to-date as a resource for general locations and dates for local events. There is more about this in the announcements tomorrow, and my thanks to Mr. Ben Graham for adding this feature.

The Friday Night Greetings video is below, and I pray that this Sabbath and this fast is a profitable one for all of us.

(P.S. The “thing” you see on my lip in this video is not lipstick, honest! It is simply the wonderful result of the fever blister that the Columbia congregation got to see develop during the sermon last Sabbath. Thankfully, this one seems to be healing up pretty quickly!)

Page from HWA Autobiography added for Church fast

March 26th, 2009

Just a quick note to point out that I have added a page to this website with a copy of the 22nd chapter of Mr. Armstrong’s Autobiography (vol. 1).  With the church fast we have ahead of us this Sabbath, I thought it would be good for all of us to read it and consider the lessons it has for what we are trying to do.  I will pass out copies in St. Louis this Sabbath, but for those who do not have a copy of the Autobiography for themselves, I thought posting it here for reference would be helpful.

We’ll take the page down about a week or so from now, so if you want to print a copy for yourself I recommend doing so quickly.  (A PDF copy of that chapter is available, as well, as noted at the top of the page.)

Friday what? Greetings? What?

March 20th, 2009

Sorry for not getting a video up last week! Even tonight’s greeting is sliding into home a bit late, eh? Well, it’s been one of those days. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful Sabbath, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone in the days ahead.

Fuzzy Friday Night Greetings

March 6th, 2009

Howdy, all! The title refers to the “guest stars” in tonight’s FNG video, below. They aren’t the most lively guests, having just woken from a nap, but I appreciate their gracious willingness to show up.

This would have been out a bit sooner, but we had been trying to tape with our old DV camera (better resolution) instead of my laptop webcam. However, the DV looks as though it may be finally giving up on us, so webcam it is.

I hope the start to your Sabbath has been a good one! We look forward to seeing everyone soon. The video is below…
