LCG Music Weekend

August 15th, 2010

Welcome to the Third Annual
LCG Music Weekend & Campout
Website!

Kan-Do Kampground in Danville, Missouri, September 3–6, 2010

We’re glad you’re coming! This website should have all the information you need to plan on attending. Everyone needs to register, whether you plan on playing music or just sitting around and enjoying it, so please be sure to click the Registration Link at the bottom of this page after you have reviewed all the information here.

Here’s the information.  (Again, the Registration Link is at the bottom.)

LOCATION

The address of the Kan-Do Kampground is:

99 HWY TT
Montgomery City, MO 63361

Actually, the campground is located in Danville. Coming in off of I-70, you will take the Danville Exit, #170.

HOUSING

There are three housing options available: camping in the tent sites, staying in an RV, or staying at a local hotel. Information for each option is detailed below.

  • Campsites (Tent Area)

Since last year, the Kan-Do Kampground folks have upgraded their tent sites, and now ALL feature electrical outlets for regular use items (that is, items you would plug into your outlets at home) and water faucets.

We are also getting a reduced rate: $20 per campsite per day for up to 4 people, plus $2 per person per day for each person over a count of 4 people. So, the total cost for a tent site with 9 people for 3 days would be 3 × [$20 + ($2 × 5)] = $90. HOWEVER, since two or three tents can be placed on each tent site, the cost per tent on that site would be lower. We plan to distribute the cost in an equitable way, considering family, tent, and head count, but this example should give you an idea of what to expect. (And, as always, donations will be welcomed with open arms!)

If you want to come in a pop-up camper or other vehicle that may need 30 AMP or 50 AMP access, some of the tent sites have these types of outlets, but we cannot guarantee how many will be available. (If you have a splitter, it might be a good idea to bring it.) Be sure to indicate your electrical need on the registration form, and if you have any questions, please contact Mr. Randy Kleindienst using the information below. Again, “regular” outlets such as you would use in your home should be available on each lot.

The campsite will be the central location for our fellowship & food, and musicians of all stripes — whether newbie and novice, or practiced and professional — are welcome to come and strum by the campfires!

  • Large RV Slots

If you plan on driving something more than, say, a pop-up camper or small RV to the campgrounds, then you may need to rent space in one of Kan-Do’s RV slots. They have told us that some slots may be available, please contact Mr. Randy Kleindienst at the contact information below to discuss.

  • Hotels

Feel free and shop around, but to help get you started here are three at the New Florence Exit on I-70 which is about 5 miles away from camp

America’s Best Inns & Suites
573-835-2900
prices $60-66 + tax

Days Inn Motel
573-835-7500
prices $54.00 + tax

Clark Plaza Hotel
573-835-8888
price $59.38 + tax

Anyone staying in a hotel or just visiting for a day will need to plan and pay a $1 per person per day charge that is assessed our group by the Kan-Do Kampground. Other than that, we assume that you will make your hotel arrangements on your own.

WEEKEND SCHEDULE

  • Friday pre-Sundown – arrival and tent set up. If you get your family’s tent up, see if anyone else needs some assistance! Help may be needed for the set up of our larger meeting tent. (Note: Inevitably, some will experience difficulty on the trip and arrive after sundown. Should this arise, let’s all pitch in and help those in such circumstances to get set up smoothly.)
  • Sabbath morning, 11:00 AM – Bible Study (“dressy casual” wear, at least)
  • Sabbath afternoon, 3:00 PM – Sabbath Services (“dressy casual” wear, at least)
  • Saturday Evening, after sundown – assorted small group music at various campsites (prepare your fingers for pickin’, brush your teeth for grinnin’, and clean your ears for listenin’!)
  • Sunday morning, 10:00 AM – beginning of the stage show. There will be a break around noon for heading to your tents, getting some “vittles” to fuel further listening, then back to the show!
  • Monday morning – Time to go! We need to be checked out by midday. (Normally, we would need to be out by 12:00 noon, but being a holiday weekend, I think we have until 2:00PM – still checking on that.)

RULES AND IMPORTANT NOTES

Here are some important things you need to know. Coming to this event implies your agreement with these rules:

-  This is an event for members and attendees of the Living Church of God, with the exception of certain family members (such as a spouse or children) who may not be members or attendees of the Church. In particular, those performing are expected to be members or attendees of the Living Church of God.

-  Everyone is on his/her own for food, meals, cooking and camping equipment (including chairs and tables) for the weekend. [While there should be spots for campfires and grilling, we do not have details yet concerning obtaining wood, etc., nor on how accessible grills and such will be. We will look into it and report it here when we know.]

-  No smoking is allowed in the tent areas. (Of course, this is a given with our group, but it is still good to mention.)

-  Children should not be left unsupervised in our camp area.

-  Alcohol is permitted in the campsite, though drunkenness cannot be tolerated. Please practice balance and moderation.

-  Whether playing music or just showing up to listen and enjoy the fellowship, we need an accurate count of attendees, so please register! The link to the registration form is at the bottom of this page. Please fill out one registration form for each tent in your family or group.

For new or novice musicians: Don’t be shy! Bring your instrument along and play in the campsite around the campfire or alongside other, more accomplished musicians. Nothing helps a new musician along quite like playing and practicing next to those who have “been there”! The chance to “pick and grin” with others is an opportunity that doesn’t come along too often for many of us, so take advantage of it!

For musicians interested in performing on stage: We are looking forward to hearing some great music! When you sign up, please indicate the type of music you play (e.g., bluegrass, country, folk, nose flute, etc.) and fill out the additional information in the registration form to allow us the opportunity to craft a balanced, organized show on Sunday.  If you are have written your own material, please note that, as well, as we want to highlight singer-songwriters in the church.

-  Please be mindful that the music we play must be pleasing to God, and that in all we do we must be able to do it in the name of Jesus Christ. Music that does not satisfy these conditions will be unwelcome.

-  Also, some of you may come as a group. Please give us the details in the registration form. While there will likely be some mashing up of folks (isn’t that part of the fun of playing together at something like this?), we’d like to know if some of you play together normally and will need that sort of info to organize for Sunday. If the form seems insufficient to communicate information about your group, please use the last field on the registration form to give us more information or call Mr. Randy Kleindienst using the information below.

Keep checking in as the date comes closer and closer! If there is anything we have forgotten, we will try to add it here when it comes up.
